About Charles Carroll Institute

Our Mission

Inspired by the life and legacy of Charles Carroll of Carrollton — the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence and the last surviving Founding Father — the Charles Carrollton Institute exists to promote the enduring relationship between faith, reason, and human freedom.

Our mission is to preserve, defend, and transmit the moral, cultural, and spiritual foundations of Western civilization through education, historical research, public engagement, and the cultivation of intellectual and civic courage.

At a time when religious liberty is under increasing pressure and historical memory is rapidly fading, the Institute seeks to form a new generation of leaders and citizens rooted in truth, virtue, and timeless principles.

We are committed to:

  • Advancing Catholic social teaching in the public square;
  • Recovering the philosophical and theological roots of liberty;
  • Supporting exiled voices, persecuted journalists, and defenders of conscience;
  • Publishing original research, essays, and reflections on faith, freedom, and tradition;
  • Hosting lectures, courses, and cultural programs for families, educators, and the wider public.

This is not merely an academic endeavor — it is a spiritual and cultural mission.
